An explainer on the etymology and identity of Xicanx, animated with full creative control for BESE's "Gimme the Word" series.
01 / The brief
BESE wanted a short explainer on the etymology and identity of Xicanx for their "Gimme the Word" series. The client's design team was unavailable, which meant the look, the typography, and the edit were all mine to define.
02 / The approach
I built it around bold typographic animation and historical collage, tying every move to its specific moment in the script. Nothing animates for decoration. Each transition carries the meaning of the word it lands on.
03 / The outcome
The piece landed so well the team asked to reuse it as a template, then realized every animation was too intentional to lift. It only works as the thing it is.
