Daily looping editorial animation for VICE's Snapchat Discover, made at volume across Motherboard, Tonic, and i-D.

01 / The brief

Daily editorial animation for VICE's Snapchat Discover across Motherboard, Tonic, and i-D. A 7 to 10 person team shipping 6 to 8 ten-second looping illustrations every single day, on a 2D brand guideline.

02 / The approach

To move faster and look better, I built the people animations in Cinema 4D and post-processed them to read hand-drawn. Technically still inside the 2D guidelines, actually something smarter underneath. I also rebuilt the team's shared After Effects template from 200-plus MB down to 512KB, which made every daily file lighter for everyone.

03 / The outcome

A daily output that held a consistent editorial voice at volume, on deadline, without the look flattening out the way fast work usually does.
